7.3 Promotion of Prefectural Plan for Conservation of the Seto Inland Sea

  The governors of the 13 prefectures concerned have drawn up the each prefectural plan including the measures for the conservation of the environment of the Seto Inland Sea in July 1981. These are on the basis of the Basic Plan based on the Article 4 in the Law Concerning Special Measures For Conservation Of The Environment Of The Seto Inland Sea.

  After that, a part of the prefectural plan has been revised in December in 1987 and June in 1992 to correspond to the alterations of several plans included in the prefectural plan. Moreover, because of the necessity of the amendments of a part of the Basic Plan, new prefectural plans of the 13 prefectures concerned through the recognition by the Prime Minister in August, 1997 has been drawn up on September 16,1997.

  The number of municipalities concerned to the Law in each prefectures concerned is shown in Table 7-2.
